MiraCosta College today announced that its latest Adult High School graduating class includes a set of twin sisters, Carol Baker and Carolyn Baker-Lowery, who will walk across the stage together on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 6 p.m. Carol and Carolyn decided to return to school years ago and have studied side-by-side so that they could receive their diplomas together, nearly 50 years since they left high school as teenagers.

SDCCU has partnered with Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, CHOC Children’s in Orange County, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and Cottage Children’s Medical Center in Santa Barbara

SAN DIEGO, Calif., (May 15, 2023) — San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), one of Southern California’s largest locally-owned financial institutions, is collecting monetary donations for children’s hospitals throughout Southern California in celebration of the Miracle Month of May. Donations collected will help provide medical care for children at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego, CHOC Children’s Hospital in Orange County, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and Cottage Children’s Medical Center in Santa Barbara. Donations can be made in-branch or online through May 31.

Energy Savings for Renters and Homeowners

To help its customers keep their energy costs down, SDG&E launched a new program for renters and owners of single-family homes. The Residential Energy Solutions (RES) program has no income restrictions. Eligible customers receive free products such as smart thermostats, low-flow showerheads, brushless fan motors, HVAC services like air duct testing and sealing – and more. SDG&E has also contracted with Synergy Companies to provide customers with energy efficiency audits from their experts. Customers can request a home visit here or by calling (888)-272-8394.

MiraCosta College student Hayat Sherif has been named as one of the 60 high-achieving community college students across the country who will receive the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. Sherif is the only recipient in San Diego County and one of just ten in California. The highly competitive national scholarship aims for Cooke Scholars to complete their undergraduate educations with as little debt as possible.
